maybank2u slow for the masses
When I blogged about maybank2u 2.0, I also mentioned that loading the site was an issue.
before | after | % increase |
148KB | 196KB | 32% |
41 HTTP requests | 61 HTTP requests | 49% |
5.47s | 10.68s | 95% |
It seems they launched the site, and its now slow as.

More HTTP requests… longer load times… its almost impossible to login. And when you do, you see the above.
Its a better design. The UI rocks. But you got to scale the site, dear. With all that increases, you got to increase capacity. Lets hope these teething problems disappear (I don’t know when the site got launched, been away these past few days).
Funnily enough, I was awakened by my dad, who’s pretty tech-savvy, to tell me that the website had changed, and he couldn’t find the login button. I wonder how many people were so used to the old UI, which said “login” on the left hand side-bar, that now they’ve got to look at the top-right hand spot. Little UI changes… can potentially cause big panics!
Update: Classic Maybank2u is still available in the meantime. Its still Web 1.0-ish, but its familiar. Good luck to the M2U team in scaling M2U 2.0!
I was really amazed by their new Web 2 website but it is super slow…. I was not able to pay my bill wif d new website yesterday. This is really not a good thing but luckily they are smart enuf 2 keep d old website link on d mainpage during this transition period. Finally, I managed 2 pay off my bills thru d old website instead of d new 1. I believe Maybank really need 2 do something about it coz upgrade should b better not worse…
M2U 2.0 SUCKS! What’s the point of having a rocking UI but I can’t do shit with it. Loading takes forever… Transaction histories are no longer there, they were there when I last looked using the 1.0 UI… hell I even received those some Java.lang errors and finally after a few more clicks here and there… tada…

@#*(@*#@ I hope M2U are aware the crap they’re churning out.
I also understand that Firefox users, (~40% of Malaysian browser users, according to some statistics), are unable to use v2 at all.
You can ltry ogin using their old website: https://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb/scripts/mb…sp?action=login
classic case of software development where performance testing and tweaking is the last priority (and something is only done when shit happens).

Charles, will you do the performance test again? M2U 2.0 is live again.
